HINGED WINDOWS

Hinged (or casement) windows are a distinct architectural feature, frequently seen in San Francisco structures with a European, craftsman or arts and crafts influence. With their strong horizontal orientation and the fact that they open outward, hinged windows are prone to distortion from the combined stresses of wind, moisture, and the weight of glass panes.

 

Our experience with these windows, especially on the windy hilltops of Pacific Heights, goes a long way toward our patience and understanding of how to approach these projects.  Casement windows require particular attention to repairs that include restorative planing, careful fitting, reinforcement, weatherstripping, and specialty hardware, all of which we love to do.
