Traditional wooden doors and windows were originally manufactured and installed to allow for periodic servicing. However, as the knowledge and use of hand-tools by tradesmen has waned, so has the practice of maintaining these distinctive architectural features, leaving many to fall into disrepair. Raven Restoration fills this void.

 

We are passionate about historic preservation best practices and our goal is to limit our use of modern materials and to retain as much of the original as possible. When we do need replacement elements, we match the quality and wood type of the original construction and use only the finest architectural conservation methods and products sourced from accepted architectural and wooden boat restoration texts.

 

Most Victorian & Edwardian homes we assess, retain their original windows. Unfortunately, original Victorian front doors are usually missing entirely. In these cases, we can offer a reproduction Victorian door that is true to the construction of the missing original in every way and can be chosen to be accordant with your particular facade. All of our catalog doors are custom made from solid heartwood and are assembled with interlocking mortise & tenon joints; never dowels, veneers, composites, or other lesser parts.
